Implementing zero waste systems for every First Nation community across Canada
The Indigenous Zero Waste Technical Advisory Group (IZWTAG) offers training and resources to First Nations to implement zero waste systems within their communities.
We are an Indigenous run non-profit society that takes pride in our communities and our work. We work with people that are looking to make a difference and look after the land through effective zero waste solutions.
Our training provides the tools to implement zero waste programs, including recycling, composting, and waste reduction activities.
Gitxaala Nation’s main community is at Kitkatla, located on Dolphin Island off B.C.’s remote north coast, accessible only by barge, boat and float plane. In 2012, Gitxaala joined the B.C. First Nation Zero Waste Program and began working on a new waste management system.
