This position works in Solid Waste & Recycling Administration. This is clerical work of some variety and moderate complexity involving responsibility for delivering customer service for the Solid Waste and Recycling division. Employees of this class receive, track and enter inquiries, complaints and service requests into a database for departmental related services and forward for dispatching; provide information, clarification and assistance to the public, internal and external contacts; receive, review and process requests for purchase and exchanges of garbage and yard waste receptacles; and reconcile a variety of invoices and payments; type, update and maintain a variety of reports, files and databases; and compose routine correspondence related to the work. The employee exercises some independence of judgment and action in the performance of assigned duties within established guidelines, practices and procedures, referring more complex problem to a supervisor. Work performance is reviewed by a supervisor in terms of the accuracy and efficiency of services rendered. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include the completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by commercial courses, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the services, functions, bylaws, policies and procedures of a municipal department. Sound knowledge of computer, systems and database maintenance as related to the work. Ability to deal effectively with the public, internal and external contacts in providing information and explaining bylaws, policies, regulations and procedures related to the work performed. Experience in the use of Infor, GIS Map, and SAP is an asset.
