Position Summary for Class 5 Driver

Recycling Alternative (RA) will begin servicing the Multi-Unit Residential Building recycling collection in Downtown Vancouver and False Creek in early 2026. We’re hiring a professional and reliable Class 3 driver to operate a dual-stream packer truck on scheduled residential recycling routes. You’ll be responsible for safe operation of the vehicle, performing multi-unit residential pickups, and helping keep the route running efficiently. This is a physical, hands-on role where you’ll be getting in and out of the truck regularly and assisting with loading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a dual-stream packer truck on assigned residential routes
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Assist with curbside loading and separation of materials
  • Ensure material is compacted and stored safely on board the truck
  • Monitor collection material for contamination
  • Communicate with dispatch and leadership throughout the day
  • Maintain a clean and professional vehicle
  • Deliver friendly, respectful service in residential neighbourhoods
  • Load and unload recycling material (lifting up to 50 lbs)
  • Communicate with dispatch throughout the day

Qualifications

  • Class 3 Driver’s Licence with clean driving abstract
  • Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience
  • Physically capable of loading materials throughout the shift
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of the Vancouver area is an asset
  • Experience in recycling or waste handling is helpful, but not required
  • Has Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Team player with a positive, collaborative attitude.

Schedule

  • Full-time
  • Monday to Thursday – 4×10 hour shifts
  • Occasional overtime may be required
