Operations Manager

Position Overview

Rypac Metal Recycling Ltd. is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Operations Manager for our Surrey location. The Operations Manager is responsible for all operational aspects of the facility including production, shipping and receiving, equipment maintenance, and health and safety programs. The successful candidate is a proven leader with experience managing large teams to achieve exceptional operational results.

Responsibilities

The Operations Manager is ultimately responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of our metal recycling operations. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing and supervising all operations staff.
  • Creating a safe work environment for all employees, customers and visitors.
  • Directing ferrous and non-ferrous production to achieve efficient processing times and high-quality finished products.
  • Managing the maintenance and repair of all critical yard equipment such as balers, material handles, skid steers, and forklifts.
  • Directing yard activities to ensure that customers are provided with the highest level of service.
  • Working collaboratively with administrative staff to maintain accurate inventory and receiving records.
  • Assisting with the development of facility processes and procedures.
  • Hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations for operations staff.
  • Continually seeking opportunities to improve the business and yard operations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing industrial operations.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities and a proven capacity to manage a large team.
  • Strong mechanical acumen and the ability to communicate effectively with third-party contractors.
  • Highly organized and capable of advancing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator.
  • Comfortable using technology including MS Office programs and Apple products.
  • Advanced capacity for problem solving and a commitment to getting things done.
  • A desire to continually learn and improve each day.
  • Experience in the metal recycling industry is an asset but not necessary.
