Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty equipment, including excavator loaders, heavy-duty trucks, semi-trucks, trailers, walking-floor trailers, B-trains, shredders, and other vehicles or machinery. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, efficiency, and quality in all tasks to support our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems by following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on excavator loaders, heavy-duty trucks, semi-trucks, trailers, walking-floor trailers, B-trains, shredders, and other vehicles, machines, or heavy equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
  • Test vehicles and heavy-duty machinery to troubleshoot problems and verify repairs for proper and safe completion.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts or components.
  • Read and interpret vehicle condition reports and/or repair orders, communicate with supervisor and/or driver for clarification of problems, and discuss preventive techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
  • Complete paperwork if necessary associated with repairing vehicles, heavy-duty machinery, documenting parts usage, evaluating the loss of vehicles and equipment, and reporting regularly to the Manager.
  • Based on the grinding and stock situation of parts, prepare purchase orders and research best prices on parts or repairs from vendors.
  • Work with or assist other Mechanics on methods for diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in truck or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a relevant training course or program.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license; Class A preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair orders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
