Position Summary for Fleet Coordinator

The Fleet Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient daily operation of the company’s residential recycling collection fleet. This role oversees early-morning fleet readiness, day-to-day operational coordination, driver support, customer service alignment, and overall fleet management. The position works closely with the Operations Supervisor, Dispatcher, and Drivers, to maintain service quality, resolve issues quickly, and support continuous operational improvement.

Key ResponsibilitiesMorning/Pre-Trips

  • Move trucks from the yard to the street and assist drivers in beginning their day.
  • Support drivers in conducting morning fluid top-ups and greasing as required.
  • Troubleshoot early-morning issues (e.g., driver absences, mechanical problems).
  • Assist with offloading materials that were not fully offloaded the previous day.

Daytime Operations

  • Coordinate trucks returning to offload into compactors and redeploy as needed.
  • Oversee and schedule Roll-Off bins going to the Receiving Facility.
  • Troubleshoot route issues throughout the day, including mechanical failures, site access challenges, and rerouting needs.
  • Perform regular route and site checks
  • Work closely with the Operations Supervisor on customer missed pickups, and high-priority sites.
  • Support in managing driver scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Work with Operations Supervisor to maintain inventory of truck parts, supplies, and operational materials
  • Conduct mid-day check-ins with drivers to address missed pickups, issues, and redeployment needs.
  • Assist in driver training and onboarding.
  • Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

End-of-Day

  • Coordinate incoming trucks and offloading into compactors.
  • Perform end-of-day check-ins with drivers regarding route completion.
  • Perform end-of-day check-ins with drivers regarding truck performance
  • Prepare operational plans and fleet readiness for the next day.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fleet operations, logistics, waste and/or recycling collection, or related fields.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under time constraints.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple moving parts and communicate clearly with multiple departments.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with commercial vehicle maintenance required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Class 5 drivers license with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Team player with a positive, collaborative attitude.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
