Truck Driver – Recycling

One of Vancouver’s original recycling companies is looking for a physically-strong and experienced truck driver/swamper for a position driving a 3 ton cube truck or assisting other drivers. For 30 years, we have been making a positive impact in both our local community and to our environment.

Location:

449 Industrial Avenue (near the Main Street Skytrain Station)

Job Description:

As a truck driver you will be responsible for interacting with our customers as you collect recycling materials from businesses throughout the Greater Vancouver area. You will also at times be required to assist other drivers on their routes.

The position also includes loading and unloading materials from trucks, completing pre-trip vehicle inspections, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness. Planning, preparation, punctuality and excellent communication with our central dispatcher are keys to success in this role.

This is a physically demanding job – you will be required to handle full totes on a regular basis, moving and transferring materials in and out of and within trucks. You will also be using pallet jacks to unload larger equipment.

Requirements:

  • Class 5 Drivers license and a clean drivers-abstract.
  • Minimum 1 year truck driving experience.
  • Adaptability and willingness to be flexible and drive different routes.
  • Willing to work as part of a team, take directions and make contributions.
  • Enjoying interacting with customers and co-workers.
  • A good knowledge of the Greater Vancouver area is helpful.
  • Knowledge of Recycling Industry and personal commitment to recycling an asset.

Working Conditions:

Full Time – 5 x 8 hour shifts Mon-Fri, overtime is sometimes offered.
