Summary:

AMIX is looking for a skilled and experienced individual to take responsibility for all day‑to‑day logistics for inbound and outbound material. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented team player so understands the flow of logistics and transportation in a fast paced environment. The successful individual will provide professional and customer service oriented direction to be the team and customers.

What the role will be doing:

This position will be responsible for dispatching AMIX’s roll‑off truck(s) for pickups, schedule cranes and third‑party carriers when required, and run the outbound program end‑to‑end (drayage, rail/truck bookings, customs & documentation, and freight coordination). It will also build and manage the vendor roster (carriers, drayage, cranes, rigging), negotiate service agreements, and re‑bid/renew annually to keep reliability high and cost per ton low.

Responsibilities:

The Logistics and Freight Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Plan, schedule, and dispatch AMIX roll‑off truck(s) for all inbound pickups.
  • Coordinate site access, load readiness, permits/parking, and safety requirements with customers/contractors. Collect and reconcile scale tickets, BOLs, photos, and site notes for each job
  • Plan and execute shipments by container, flatbed, step‑deck, or rail as appropriate.
  • Prepare and QA all documentation: BOL, commercial invoice, packing list, CUSMA/USMCA certificates, ACI/ACE pre‑alerts via broker, and any special certificates required by mills/ports (e.g., fumigation, inspection).
  • Work with customs brokers to ensure clearance, coordinate inspections, and resolve holds quickly.
  • Build and maintain a preferred roster for carriers, drayage, cranes/rigging, and special services.
  • Set up rate matrices (base rates, FSC, accessorial, surcharges) and keep them current.
  • Create a dispatch board to provide structure and create SOP’s for processes
  • Ensuring AMIX is compliant with NSC/DOT/TDG/HAZMAT awareness
  • Approve and code freight invoices
  • Provide clear ETAs, pre‑alerts, and exceptions to Sales/Commercial, Yard Ops, and customers.

Qualifications and Experience:

AMIX is looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • 3–5+ years in dispatch, drayage, or freight coordination (industrial, recycling, metal, construction, or port environment preferred).
  • Working knowledge of port operations, drayage, rail/truck, and customs (CBSA/CBP processes, ACI/ACE, CUSMA certificates).
  • Strong vendor negotiation and contracting experience; comfort with rate matrices and accessorial.
  • Solid Excel/Google Sheets skills; familiarity with TMS/dispatch tools and document portals.
  • Excellent communication; calm under pressure; bias for field visibility and proactive problem‑solving.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to visit local sites and vendors.
