About You:

We are looking for an individual with an outstanding work ethic and a safety-first attitude to join our team full-time. The position is responsible for collecting residential solid wastes, including recycling, garbage, and organics. The collection and disposal of solid waste materials is routine manual work involving sharp detail and good hand-eye coordination in all weather conditions. This posting is for full-time, Mon-Fri, with an average of 35-45hrs per week with overtime.

Job Duties:

You will be responsible for operation and loading of curbside waste along municipal streets and in private communities in a safe and efficient manner. Our clients love dealing with AjM Disposal because of our quick and accurate responses, and our helpful, friendly demeanor. You will be a part of the team that supplies the expert services that our customers have come to expect. Working with all collection crews to complete daily routes. This involves good communication and leadership skills to provide solid team performance throughout the day. Routes must be completed each day. Crews are responsible to complete the assigned route in its entirety.

Day-to-day Tasks:

· Vehicle inspections both pre- and post-trip and reporting equipment issues to operations

· Navigating in various conditions including tight spaces (for the vehicle) and backing up frequently around multiple obstacles

· Loading of collection vehicle by repetitious lifting of resident containers (55lbs)
Dumping loaded trucks at different sites and following specific protocols for each site

· Hours vary on route length and may result in overtime (after 8hrs is paid OT)

Requirements:

· Valid BC Class 3 or Class 5 w/ Air Endorsement Driver’s License

· Clean Drivers Abstract

· New commercial driver welcome

· Excellent English skills, both written and verbal

· General understanding of commercial vehicles and hydraulic systems

· Comfortable working in a team environment and be willing to complete scheduled routes

· Be comfortable around all household waste materials including garbage and organics

Assets but not required:

· Industry experience (Waste/Recycling collection)
· Understanding of heavy-duty mechanics/diesel engines
· Knowledge of local roadways throughout Metro Vancouver
· Experience working outdoors/trades/service industry

Compensation and Benefits:

· Wage: $25-$27 (depending on experience)

This is posting is for a Full Time Position. Monday through Friday with an average of 35-45hrs per week. There is great potential in this position to develop and learn other responsibilities inside our organization and the ability that would result in higher compensation.
