Duties
GS-BUS-02
Visitor Facilities Attendants provide cleaning and sanitation services in Parks Canada buildings and facilities including campground centers and kiosks, washroom and shower buildings, and at campsites. They will perform minor maintenance tasks, grounds keeping duties such as litter picking and raking. Other tasks include sweeping, mopping, dusting, removing garbage and recycling, hauling firewood and operating small equipment (e.g. leaf blower)
GS-MPS-04
Visitor Services Attendants provide information and revenue collection at entrance gateways, visitor centres, campgrounds, kiosks and on park and historic site grounds. They also provide shuttle services, interpretation and minor cleaning to enhance the visitor experience.

Intent of the process
The immediate need is to fill multiple term vacancies starting early summer 2023. This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency
- Valid class 5 driver’s licence or provincial equivalent
GS-BUS-02
- Experience in providing cleaning services in a commercial or institutional environment
- Experience in maintaining / restocking supplies
- Experience in performing minor maintenance tasks (e.g. replacing light bulbs, tightening door handles and hinges)
GS-MPS-04
- Experience providing information and service to the public, including complaint resolution
- Experience in handling cash and operating point of sales

ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATION
Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid unrestricted class 4 driver’s license or provincial equivalent (GS-MPS-04)

- Experience in interactions with the public; responding to visitor questions and providing direction.

- Experience in providing cleaning services in a commercial or institutional environment

- Knowledge of WHMIS
- Willingness to report to work in Rogers Pass National Historic Site, Glacier National Park, and/or Mount Revelstoke National Park as required
- Willingness to work at various sites (including Rogers Pass) inside buildings and outside in varying weather conditions
- Work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled
- Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and/or prescribed protective equipment
These positions require the incumbent to:
- Conduct repetitive tasks
- Stand, bend, stretch and work from ladders
- Lift supplies, boxes, tools and equipment such as buckets
- Be exposed to noxious odors from cleaning products
- Be exposed to potential minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities (e.g., falls from ladders, irritations from cleaning products, minor cuts and bruises)
- Make moderate physical efforts, including standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time
