Recycling Transfer Station Manager:
Starting wage: $75 000 – $85 000 per year, based on experience
Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, including supervisors, equipment operators, laborers, and scale attendants.
  • To communicate clearly with clients on tipping fees and ensure invoice slips are accurate and detailed to reflect this.
  • Ensure correct product separation and containment on the site for accurate tipping and disposal. To maximize recycled materials and minimize waste sent to the landfill.
  • Turn in daily tracking sheet, balanced float, time sheets, inventory sheets, safety documents, and maintenance documents to head office.
  • Communicate with Management on staffing or other needs to assist in managing the operation at its peak potential.
  • Communicate with dispatch on trucking and material needs
  • Conduct and perform Safety Meetings as well as train Safe Work Practices and Procedures.
  • Perform and document any Daily, Weekly, Monthly Maintenance on any machinery or site assets as required and communicate any concerns to the maintenance department promptly.
  • Conduct written load reports with pictures and turn in daily, if they arise, to ensure company has documentation of all nonconforming loads.
  • Manage and communicate site schedule to staff.
  • Ensure the site machinery, tools, and contents are safe and secure at the end of each shift, and any items that do not belong on site are returned to head office.
  • Management of the sites’ water for safety and dust control.
  • Maintain cleanliness of site, for efficient operation.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Recycling Transfer Station or Facility preferred.
  • Previous experience with a Point of Sale (POS) system preferred.
  • Previous sales and/or customer service roll.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to convert Metric/Imperial weights and measures.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift up to 23kg (50 lbs).
  • Ability to walk, stand for extended periods.
  • Hazmat and/or Asbestos Awareness training would be an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret Hazardous Waste Manifests
